Meet the Owners

We are a family-owned and operated business operating out of West Des Moines, Iowa. Originally from Rock Valley, Iowa, Jon Wallenburg founded Solid Rock Landscaping LLC in March of 2003. His brother, Chris, is a co-owner and has been with the company for about a decade. In addition to us, we employ six full-time crew members. We enjoy helping people with their outdoor living spaces!

Jon Wallenburg
Co-Owner / Founder

Jon has a two-year business degree from Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD. He began his landscaping career in NW Iowa where he was a laborer and foreman for a few years, then moved to Des Moines to run a landscaping business for Wolf Construction for another three years. Jon then started his own business, Solid Rock Landscaping LLC, in 2003. Jon continues to operate as both the business manager and the on-site crew manager.

Chris Wallenburg
Co-Owner / Horticulturist

Chris has a Horticulture Technology degree with an emphasis in Landscape Design. Prior to joining Solid Rock Landscaping LLC, Chris successfully managed an irrigation department and worked in landscape construction as a crew member, foreman, and manager. Chris is certified as a pest manager in South Dakota and Idaho with experience in those states. Chris loves plants and the entire industry and he practices Arbor-culture at some level each year. Chris is responsible for our consultations, estimates, and custom designs.
